Changing settings as member of "Network Configuration Operators" needs reboot
I have a user added to the "Network Configuration Operators" group. When I now want to change IP settings Windows asks to reboot. "You must shut down and restart your computer before the new settings will take effect. Do you want to restart your computer now?" In my understanding just changing the IP does not need a reboot. At least when I change these settings as an administrator the system doesn't ask for a reboot. Did I miss something? When I hit "No" the settings are applied anyway. Unfortunately there is only few information about this local group. Can somebody explain that behavior?

Hi, Normally, there shouldnot be any warning message appearing on Screen when changing IP address. I suggest you reset Winsock, and then test again. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357?wa=wsignin1.0 TechNet Subscriber Support If you are TechNet Subscription user and have any feedback on our support quality, please send your feedbackhere.Juke Chou TechNet Community Support

Thanks for the fast answer. I did reset the windsock and restart the system according to your link. But it is still asking for a reboot. I'm puzzled...

Hi, After test, I think this should be by design for this message appearing. Sometimes, Winsock's corruption would also cause Admin to see the same message. But your situation is not this case. Juke Chou TechNet Community Support
